Wouldn’t it be nice to try more Okinawan cultural activities? I bet you would feel more comfortable living in Okinawa if you could be more involved in this happy, little, island community. I know you want to go out and try more activities in town but feel a little bit intimidated by the language barrier right? That’s why I started Simply Okinawa, a convenient translation service for daily life. Whatever you need, even just a phone call (like appointment for hair salon) or something more involved such as help looking for your child care service, school, some cultural activity, local market...etc.  

Simply Okinawa was born from my friend’s idea. I’m originally from Kobe in mainland and have been living in Okinawa since 2003. When I moved into Okinawa, I couldn’t speak English at all. I started to pick up English as a second language to open myself to opportunities to communicate with people from all different cultures. Now I have a sweet husband (who encouraged me to start this new experience) and precious, little 10 month old son. Also many of my friends are american dependents of military families. I’ve been enjoying helping my friends talk local people when they explore new things out in town, shop or look for their kid’s activities..etc. I enjoy seeing people enjoying their life on this beautiful island as much as I do.
